1971 Lincoln Continental

1971 Lincoln Continental Sedan

The good times are over. That means finding a super well-maintained, full-size luxury Lincoln, top-notch, first-hand, for little money.

One with little mileage, as the second car is parked in front of the garage for everyday driving and with great equipment and color combinations.

They were good times, but those were 20 or more years ago.

Memories come back with this example: First hand from William Luplow from Akron Ohio, well maintained, only 63,000 miles, unrestored.

Great color combination: light green (rare) with a green, perfect vinyl roof and green fabric interior, much more elegant and beautiful than leather.

The interior has a new look! However, the car was also kept in the garage over 20 years ago. It was then forgotten there. It stood there covered until the house, built in 1943, was abandoned and cleared out after the owner's death.

So we had a lot to do. Not unusual, based on recent experiences.
First of all, examine the technical condition. The engine was in good condition, no damage. Even the exhaust is still in good condition!

Unfortunately, things didn't look so good for the 3 "wet" components: Petrol system: Tank and petrol completely rotted, petrol pump, lines and carburettor were replaced or overhauled.

Brake system: Solid and rotten, completely overhauled with new brake calipers, pads, brake cylinders, lines, master brake cylinders and braking device.

Cooling system: Also in need, new radiators, hoses, whitewall tires heavily cracked and replaced.
Ignition system overhauled, ignition coil, cables, candles and conversion to maintenance-free, Contactless ignition system (series from 1973)

Major inspection with changing all fluids, V-belts, windshield wiper rubbers, etc. were also necessary.

Unfortunately, the paint on the back of the hood and on the side panels suffered and so we repainted these parts.

It now drives as beautifully as it should: fantastic!
